Location & Access

The conference will be held at the Frankopan Hall, West Court, Jesus College, University of Cambridge. You can find full travel and directions information here and the college map.

Two conference dinners will be held at the Old Hall, Queens’ College, University of Cambridge.

Accommodation

During the period of the conference hotel rooms are scarce so we advise you to book a room as soon as possible.

The conference venue is well reachable by public transport or (rental) bicycle so you do not have to restrict your search to the centre. Apart from Airbnb and Booking, you may find the following links helpful:

Public Transport from Airport to Cambridge 

  1. Stansted Airport – Cambridge (closest)
    • Train (30 mins) www.nationalrail.co.uk – You can buy tickets at the station on the day, or online. Once you arrive at Cambridge Station there is a taxi rank to the right of the exit.
    • Coach (50 mins) www.nationalexpress.com – You can buy return tickets on the day, or online.
  2. London City Airport – Cambridge
    • DLR, Tube and Train (1 hr 40 mins)

      You can buy tickets for the DLR (Docklands Light Railway), the tube and the train at the stations on the day, or you can purchase the train ticket online (www.nationalrail.co.uk).

      1) DLR from London City Airport to the Bank Underground station. Change and take the Northern Line, northbound, to King’s Cross St Pancras Underground stations.

      2) Train from London King’s Cross to Cambridge Station. Once you arrive at Cambridge Station, there is a taxi rank on the right hand side when you exit the main entrance.

  3. Heathrow – Cambridge
    • Train and Tube (1 hr 20 mins)
      www.nationalrail.co.uk – You can buy tickets at the station on the day, or online.
      1) Train from Heathrow to Paddington Station
      2) Tube from Paddington to London King’s Cross Station – ‘Circle’ or ‘Hammersmith & City’ tube line, in Eastbound direction
      3) Train from London King’s Cross to Cambridge Station. Once you arrive at Cambridge Station there is a taxi rank on the right hand side when you exit the main entrance.
    • Alternative train journey (1 hr 50 mins)

      1) Tube from Heathrow Tube Station to London King’s Cross Tube Station – Piccadilly line

      2) Train from London King’s Cross Train Station to Cambridge Station. Once you arrive at Cambridge Station there is a taxi rank to the right when you exit the main entrance.

    • Coach (2-3 hrs)
      www.nationalexpress.com – You can buy return tickets on the day, or online.
      Coach from Heathrow to Cambridge (City Centre) – Journey times vary depending on the time of day – but journeys tend to take between 2hrs 20mins and 3hrs 15mins. There are no changes, but there are quite a few stops along the way.
  4. Gatwick – Cambridge
    • Trains (1.5-2 hrs)www.nationalrail.co.uk – You can buy tickets at the station on the day, or online.

      Trains go directly from Gatwick to St Pancras International (about 50 mins). Then cross the road for a train from London King’s Cross Train Station to Cambridge (about 50 mins). Once you arrive at Cambridge Station there is a taxi rank to the right when you exit the main entrance.

      Gatwick Express You can buy return tickets on the day, or online. Trains run every 15 minutes and take about 30 minutes from Gatwick to Victoria. From Victoria, take the Victoria line on the underground (about 13 min) to London Kings Cross Train Station. Take the train from here to Cambridge (about 50 mins). Once you arrive at Cambridge Station, there is a taxi rank to the right when you exit the main entrance.

    • Coach (4 hrs)
      www.nationalexpress.com – You can buy return tickets on the day, or online.
      The coach travels directly from Gatwick to Cambridge (City Centre).
